Contact the desk

One address reaches everyone here: [email protected]. There is no phone number and no live chat, which is deliberate: the desk is three people, and a promise of instant response would be a promise we could not keep.

Corrections

The most useful message we receive. If a dispatch contains an error, tell us which file, which sentence, and what the correct position is. Anything checkable helps: a register extract, a company number, a screenshot with a visible date, a document from a supervisor.

Corrections are checked against a primary source before they are made, and once made they are dated on the page rather than slipped in silently. Put the word correction in the subject line and it gets read first.

Tip offs

If a platform is being promoted to you in a way that looks engineered, tell us how it reached you: the channel, the wording, whether a person followed up and what they asked for. Patterns are visible to us only if readers describe them, because the promotion is targeted at you and not at us.

Send documents rather than impressions where you can, and say plainly which parts you witnessed and which parts you were told. We do not publish reader accounts as quotations and we do not publish anyone's name or contact details.

Right of reply

If you operate a platform we have written about, we will read what you send and check it. The things that change a dispatch are specific: the registered name of the operating entity and its number, an authorisation reference we can look up ourselves, a statement about custody of client funds that the named institution would stand behind.

What does not change a dispatch is a request to remove it, a general assertion that the file is unfair, or a promise that the paperwork exists somewhere. Send the paperwork and the file changes the same week.

Reader questions

You can ask us what a term means, how a register works, or how to run a check on a name we have not covered. We will answer what we can.

What we cannot do is tell you whether to deposit money, whether a platform is safe for you personally, or what any market will do next. That is investment advice, we are not licensed to give it, and a site that gives it anyway is telling you something about itself.

What we cannot help with

We cannot recover money. We have no authority over any platform, no power to freeze anything and no relationship with any operator that would let us intervene. If money has gone and a withdrawal is blocked, the people to contact are your bank or card issuer, the financial regulator and the police in your own country, and the sooner the better.

Data and privacy

Messages are kept while the matter is open and for a reasonable period afterwards, so that an old correction can be traced back to its source. We do not pass reader correspondence to the platforms we write about. The privacy policy sets out the detail and how to ask for a copy or a deletion.

Please do not send account credentials, card numbers, identity documents or trading histories. We do not want them, we cannot use them, and if they arrive we delete them.
